UK fines can go up to £10,000 per clandestine person found in your truck. Luckily, you can avoid this by following the official security process – starting with completing the correct checklist.

1. Use the official security checklist

2. Don’t stop too close to ports!

  • It is strongly recommended NOT to stop within 200–300 km of ports to the UK.
  • Avoid taking your 9-hour break near ports like Calais, Dunkerque or Zeebrugge.
  • These are high-risk areas for clandestine boarding.

3. Take photos of everything

  • Take pictures of:
    • Security seals
    • Closed trailer doors
    • Tarp condition
  • They may serve as evidence in case of checks or fines.

4. Mandatory checks at each stop

  • Check the condition of the trailer, floor, locks, roof, and tarp.
  • Use the checklist to record all inspections.

5. Keep your checklist

  • The checklist must be:
    • Printed before the trip
    • Completed by hand
    • Signed by the driver
    • Kept for at least 6 months
